Basic Information

      The SEER, SEER2, HSPF, and HSPF2 calculation procedures are defined in Federal Regulation Title 10, Chapter II, Subchapter D, Part 430, Subpart B, Appendix M and Appendix M1, and ASHRAE 116 and AHRI 210/240 (2023). In order to provide most updated information, the calculation in this application primarily considers Appendix M and Appendix M1.

      Please note that M1 SEER or M1 HSPF in this application denote SEER2 or HSPF2 defined in Appendix M1, respectively.

Justification

      1. AHRI Certification provides this online app to help its members prepare for updated energy efficiency descriptors in central residential air-conditioners and heat pump performances descriptors.

      2. AHRI expands its core services to Data Analytics. This application is developed for AHRI’s members so as not only to provide a energy efficiency descriptor calculator but also to provide a data-driven performance characterization tool.

Verification

      The SEER2/HSPF2 calculations using Appendix M1 have gone through cross-comparisons by using results from independent testing laboratories and product literature. However, errors may exist. If you find errors in the calculation, please contact the Technical Team in AHRI.

This SEER2 and HSPF2 calculation application is originally developed for ASHRAE Presentation “Test procedure changes in DOE Appendix M1 and compliance with the residential air conditioners and heat pumps standards in 2023” in January 2017.
